Any substance that  attracts small pieces of iron, nickel and cobalt and  always attains the north-south direction when  freely  suspended is called a magnet. The term magnet is derived from magnetite, an ore of iron  (Fe2 04) , first discovered by the people of Magnesia. Q. What are magnetic and nan-magnetic  substances ? Ans.
