What role a nationalism play in developing a prosperous society?

The concept of nationalism unites the national citizens and develops feelings of love and sacrifice towards fellow citizens. The crime rate and corruption are reduced in a society where strong nationalism prevails; because people feel guilty about harming their countrymen. Similarly, people with great national pride work to make their country lean and feel ashamed to pollute it. So, it promotes environmental protection. Moreover, nationalism also helps to develop a prosperous society.

How do we communicate with one another?


We can exchange our message through different means such as reading, writing, or using other mediums. In the modern world, there are various means of communication. 

Mass media.: 
This way of communication is used to engage, connect, or communicate with many people at once. For example, television, radio, and newspapers are used to connect people across the world. 

Social media: 
It is an electronic communication by which people interact with others on social networking websites. People create their online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and videos. For example, Facebook, Gmail, WhatsApp, etc.



Q. What is the difference between Mass media and Social media? 


Mass Median:
  1. It is a one-way communication system. 
  2. It is based on news and information.
  3. It has limited channels.
  4. It is high-cost communication.
  5. The content on mass media is authentic
  6. Examples: television, radio, and newspapers

Social Media:
  1. It is a two-way communication system.
  2. It is based on a conversation among people.
  3. It has unlimited channels.
  4. It is low-cost communication.
  5. The content on social media is not authentic and may be fake.
  6. Examples: Facebook, Gmail, WhatsApp, etc.


Q. Write the advantages of means of information.


Advantages of means of information:
The means of information are a blessing for people. They provide people with a bundle of information at one click. Here are some advantages discussed below: 

i. Conceptual guidance:
Media provides conceptual guidance to society. It provides a platform for opinions, debates, and analysis on various issues. People put forward their ideas on social media easily and quickly.

ii. Solution of social problems:
People give much importance to their native traditions. Some traditions have become social vices like child abuse, child labour, missing person,s, etc. The media gives awareness regarding these vices. Radio and television telecast documentary programmes, films, news, dramas, and dialogues on these topics. On social media, people communicate with a large group on specific issues and also help them. Similarly, news articles are also written on such issues.

iii. Political awareness:
Media has become an essential means of generating political awareness in public Hidden and true facts are told to the people. Rulers, opposition, and politicians convey their points of view through media. Media establishes contact between the government and the public. Media analyze the performance of the government.

iv. National unity:
Media promotes the sentiments of unity at national festivals. On these occasions, national songs, national anthem, programs related to current affairs, special editions, documentary films, and special reports are telecasted People also express their sentiments on different social networking sites.

v. Health and medical problems
Social media and mass media try to develop people's consciousness about health issues to develop a healthy society. People are made aware through Health advertisements and general programs. For example, awareness about the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) through mass, print, and social media. 

vi. To provide entertainment:
Media provides recreation to tired minds. For this purpose, comic programs, dramas, and films are presented. Social media also offers good stuff to entertain people.

vii. Connectivity
People get connected to their loved ones through social media. They can see through video calls or share information through it. 

viii. Education
Media presents programmes on educational affairs and policies. Students get benefits from online and recorded lectures on different websites. Internet and radio also play an essential role in the progress of education.

Q. Write the disadvantages of means of information.


Disadvantages

i. False news and rumours:
Some media channels create a sensation and give false and fake information. They sometimes exaggerate and generate rumours for timely
attention. Furthermore, they scare people from the news like bomb explosions, suicides, and moral crimes. The media should avoid such sensational news.

ii. Reporting of crimes
Some newspapers, radio stations, and television present exaggerated news on crime after adding sensational material without authentication.

iii. Craze of fashion
Overdisplay of fashion, designs, and styles on television and print media leads to public temptation. People blindly follow new fashion trends. Often people forget their values and adopt inappropriate styles.

iv. Authenticity
Some content on social media is not authentic. Most of the time, people share false news without verification and also spread hatred. This needs to be controlled by the regulator.

v. Wastage of time
People waste their time watching television and using social media applications.



Q, Briefly explain the diverse Cultural Groups in Pakistan.


There are four major cultural groups in Pakistan; Punjabi, Pashtoon, Sindhi, and Balochi. These groups have different cultures, including arts and crafts, food, language, clothing, festivals, famous events, and folk songs.

1. Religion
There are different religions practiced in Pakistan. The religious groups include Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, and Christians. The majority of people of Pakistan are Muslims. The Hindus mostly live in Sindh and Sikhs in Punjab. All these people practice their religious rituals freely.

2. Crafts:
Pakistan has diverse and rich crafts. The "truck art" of Pakistan is famous throughout the world. The trucks, lorries, and rickshaws in Pakistan are decorated with paints, art, poetry and calligraphy. This art was originated in Punjab.

Furthermore, the "blue pottery" of Multan and Sindh are very famous. The artisans decorate cups, jars, and pots. They also made camel lamps by using camel skin. The traditional blankets are made by Sindhis. These quilts are very famous and are known as "Ralli quilts".

The changairs, peshawri chappal, and embroidered clothes are specialty of Khy Pakhtunkhwa. The "Balochi Karhai" is highly demanded all over Pakistan. People embroidery on shawls, caps, and waistcoats. Kashmiri shawls and embroidered shawls are famous in the world.

3. Language
There are dozens of languages spoken in Pakistan. The languages that people mostly speak are; Urdu, Punjabi, Pashto, Sindhi, and Balochi. Other than these languages; Saraiki, Gojari, Kashmiri, Hindko, Brahui, Shina, Balti, Khowar, Dhatki, Haryanvi, Marwari; Wakhi and Burushaski languages are also spoken by the people of Pakistan.

4. Festivals
There are several festivals celebrated in Pakistan. Some are religious that is celebrated throughout the country e.g. Eid-ul-Fitre, Eid-ul-Azha. However, some are celebrated by the people of a specific area. These festivals include Sibi Mela, Shandoor Festival, Lok Virsa, Mela Chiraghan, Sindh Festival, Larkana Festival etc.

5. Clothing
The male in Pakistan wears a Shalwar Kameez and a Waistcoat. Some people also wear a Turban on their heads. In urban areas, men wear pants, shirts, t-shirts, and coats. The women wear a Shalwar Kameez with a wide Dupata. The women in Sindh and Balochistan wear embroidered dressed frocks. The women of Gilgit wear Iraghi caps and embroidered frocks. However, mostly wear loose dresses known as Shokah. The local dress of Kashmiris is Phairan.

a. Folk songs:
There is diversity in music and folk songs in Pakistan. The different types of these folk songs are qawwali, classical music, ghazal, Punjabi, Pashto, Sindhi, and Balochi folk music. Moreover in Punjabi, people do Bhangraa and Luddi In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Khattak dance, and in Balochistan Jhoomar, in Sindh Dhammal is performed by people on different occasions.

b. Different foods of Pakistan
Pakistani food can be described as a refined blend of various regional cooking trad of the subcontinent. The food in Pakistan is famous for its flavour. People from Punjab and Sindh like spicy food, whereas Pashtoons, Kashmiri and Balochi like steamed food. The famous foods in Pakistan are Biryani, Sajji, Chapli kabab, Daleem, Halwa, Saag Roti, Karai, Nihari, Paye etc.


Q. What is multicultural society? Write its advantages.

A multicultural al society is a society in which people of diverse cultures, multiple races, and different religions live together with mutual respect and harmony. They accept each other's ideas and beliefs with an open heart. Multiculturalism forms a tolerant society. Such a kind of society has many advantages.

i. Acceptance
A diverse society encourages acceptance of different behaviours. People learn to respect every culture residing nearby. They learn new things about various culm and become familiar with them. It develops a better understanding among them and promotes tolerance in society.

ii. Breaking down barriers
When people of different cultures live together, they learn and understand
differences among them. Their differences become narrow day by day. This brings harmony among them and breaks the barriers developed earlier by differences among their cultures.

iii. Peace and harmony
The celebration of each other's festivals and special occasions promotes peace in society. Social harmony is developed among the children and elders in society. They tend to help each other beyond the barriers of culture, race and ethnicity.

iv. Ethnic groups
In a multicultural society, people of different ethnic groups live together. With time humanity, peace and harmony overcome the ethnic differences in society. People respect each other beyond their ethnic differences.
