Ans: The term "Civic is related to the duties or activities of people in their city, town, or community.

Ans: The word civic is derived from the Latin.

Q. What is the meaning of the Latin word Civic?

Ans: The word Civics means "related to a citizen." 

Q1. Who is a citizen?.

The legal resident of a particular country who has the rights and protection of that country.

Ans: Citizenship is the legal status of a citizen or a person living in a particular country. 

Q. What are civic rights and responsibilities?

Ans: Civic rights and responsibilities are those duties and rules that are related to a citizen of a country. 

Q. What rights does a citizen have since birth?

Ans: Every citizen is granted some rights from their birth. These are basic rights for the security of a person. 

Q. What should do by the citizen to make their community a better place for living together?

Ans:

The civic responsibilities that are essential to building a peaceful community include:

  • Addressing your community's problems in an informed manner.
  • Participate in solving community problems.
  • Clean your area.
  • Plant trees to make the environment clean.
  • Listening to your elders.
  • Follow rules made by the government.
  • Behave politely and value others.

  • Do not hurt the sentiments of others.
  • Support your country.
  • By using the political right to vote and select a deserving person instead of wasting the vote.
  • Negotiate differences among people and resolve conflicts.


Q. Are rights and responsibilities change over time? If yes give reasons.

Ans:

Yes, rights and responsibilities change over time. The reason is that we live in a world, that is growing rapidly in the field of technology. In the past, people only talked to or got in touch with each other when they met. But now, the situation is different. Here is a social world in which we interact by several means of communication, such as Facebook, Gmail WhatsApp, Twitter, etc. In such a situation, people should behave wisely to others who are connected to them via the Internet. 


Q. Define a digital citizen. or Who is a digital citizen?

A digital citizen is a person who uses information technology to interact with people at a social political or economic level.

Any person who uses the internet is termed a digital citizen. 


Q. Enlist some responsibilities of a digital citizen. or What are the responsibilities of a digital citizen.?

Every citizen of a country has some rights as well as responsibilities. Furthermore, a digital citizen is also bound to behave ethically when he is connected to the world through the internet. Some responsibilities are listed below. 

1. Useful content

It is the prime responsibility of every digital citizen to upload as well as share knowledgeable and appropriate content.

2. Copyright

If you are using texts, pictures, or videos of others for your work, you should ask for their permission first. You should acknowledge them by mentioning their names. This is because that specific work belongs to others and is called a copyright


Q. Differentiate between citizen, global citizen, and digital citizen.

Citizen:

The legal resident of a particular country who has the rights and protection of that country is called a citizen.

Digital citizen:

Any person who uses the internet is termed a digital citizen. 

Global citizen:

A citizen who understands and is aware of this wider world and its place in it.


Q. What digital etiquette should be adopted by a digital citizen on the internet?

When someone is communicating with a person or a group, he should behave nicely and not use harsh words. Using foul language can hurt others' sentiments. You are not allowed to speak against other's beliefs or their religion in the name of freedom of speech.

As we know in virtual communication, people cannot see or reach others physically So, some people may behave rudely. To avoid any unpleasant situation, one should observe his boundaries to express freedom and respect others sentiments

Ask students to list those principles which they think should be followed while using the internet. You can also write principles other than those given in the book.

The following is the list of principles while using the internet:

1. Behave nicely.

2. Do not use harsh words.

3. Do not use foul language.

4. Do not hurt others' sentiments. 

5. Do not speak against other's beliefs or their religion in the name of freedom of speech.

6. Do not behave rudely. 

7. Avoid unpleasant situations

8. Respect other's sentiments 


4. What is respect and accept differences of opinion while using the Internet?

All humans are different from each other in terms of having different values, norms, ideas, and thoughts. When we access the digital world, we often find people who do not like our lifestyle, religion, thoughts, and ideas. In this case, we should respect their opinions and accept diversity. Developing acceptance and tolerance in one's behaviour will make one respect others' points of view.


Q. What should be a response to Cyber-crime? 

People should not be involved in such activities, which are known as cyber-crime. Cyber-crime includes: using others' content without their consent, blackmailing others or bullying them, hurting other's privacy or threatening them, and sharing wrong or worse content. As digital citizens, we should behave in a good way so everyone can enjoy their freedom.

Human Rights are the rights that are universally accepted and protected by the state. These rights are enjoyed by every individual regardless of his race, religion, gender, or nationality. The United Nations has declared some human rights as laws that are accepted worldwide. People should enjoy them no matter who they are and where they belong to.

Some of the fundamental human rights declared by the United Nations are discussed below:

1. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.

2. Everyone has equal rights without any discrimination of race, colour, gender, language, and religion.

3. Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and safety.

4. No one shall be held in slavery. Slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.

5. No one shall be subject to torture or punishment.

6. No one shall be arrested forcefully or sent away from the country.

7. Everyone has the right to reside where they want

8. Everyone has the right to belong to their country. No one shall be illegally deprived of his nationality.

9. Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion. This includes the freedom to practice religion.


Q. Write in your notebook two rights you appreciate the most.

Q. Can tolerance behaviour promote a peaceful society in this diverse society?

All human beings are equal irrespective of caste, colour, religion, or ethnicity. The society we are living in is diverse. People of different faiths and ethnic groups share the same community. In such a situation, only tolerant behavior can promote a peaceful society.
