Past tense -- فعل ماضی - Past Indefinite tense / Simple Past tense - Easy English Grammar Notes

i) Past Indefinite tense / Simple Past tense.

(فعل ماضی غیر معینہ مدت / فعل ماضی سادہ )

A work or any action that was done in the past

⇒[Second form verb is use in sentence of indefinite tense]

⇒[We use did in the negative or interrogative sentence of past indefinite tense with change of second form to first form]

Examples:

1. He wrote (2nd form) a letter.

He did not write (1st form) a letter. (negative)

Did he write (1st form) a letter? (question)

They went (2nd form) to Bazar.

They did not go (1st form) to Bazar. (negative)

Did they go (1st form) to Bazar? (question)

It rained yesterday.

It did not rain (1st form) yesterday. (negative)

Did It rain (1st form) yesterday? (question)

Examples in English and Urdu:

1. I played yesterday.

.میں نے کل کھیلا تھا۔ یا میں نے کل کھیلا

2, I did not eat food. {Negative}

میں نے کھانا نہیں کھایا۔

3. Did I use your phone? {Interrogative}

کیا میں نے آپ کا فون استعمال کیا؟

4. I went to the school.

میں سکول گیا۔

5. Sana did not wash the clothes. {Negative}

ثناء نے کپڑے نہیں دھوئے۔

6. Did Ali play cricket? {Interrogative}

کیا علی کرکٹ کھیلتے تھے؟
