Past tense -- فعل ماضی  

ii)      Past continuous tense. (فعل ماضی جاری )

A work or any action that was happening in the past.

⇒[We use helping verb was or were and 1st form of verb + ing]

Examples in English and Urdu: 

1) He was playing.  

وہ کھیل رہا تھا۔

2) I was eating food.  

میں کھانا کھا رہا تھا۔

3) Ali was not playing cricket. {Negative}

علی کرکٹ نہیں کھیل رہا تھا۔

4) We were not eating.  {Negative}

ہم نہیں کھا رہے تھے۔

5) Were they playing cricket? {Interrogative}

 کیا وہ کرکٹ کھیل رہے تھے؟

6) Was Ayesha eating food? {Interrogative}

کیا عائشہ کھانا کھا رہی تھی؟

7) It was raining.  

بارش ہو رہی تھی۔

8) I was sleeping last night.  

میں کل رات سو رہا تھا۔

9) The sun was rising.  

سورج نکل رہا تھا۔

10) They were singing.

 وہ گا رہے تھے۔
