Q.1. Do the balloons attract or repel each other in normal conditions? 

Ans: The balloons do not show any change in normal conditions. 


Q.2. What happens when both balloons are rubbed with woolen cloth? 

Ans: Both the balloons repel each other. 


Q.3. Why does this happen? 

Ans: When the balloons are rubbed with woolen cloth both of them acquire a negative charge due to which they repelled each other. 


Q.4. What happens when one balloon is rubbed with a woolen cloth and the other with plastic objects? 

Ans: The balloons acquired opposite charges. Hence they attracted each other. 


Q.4. What inference do you draw from your observations? 

Ans: Similar charges repel each other and opposite charges attract each other.

1. What happens when the North Pole of the second magnet comes close to the North Pole of the suspended magnet? 

Ans: Both magnets strongly repel each other. 


2. What happens when the South Pole of the second magnet comes close to the South Pole of the suspended magnet? 

Ans: Both the poles are the same. Hence, they will repel each other. 


3. What happens when opposite poles come near? 

Ans: When opposite poles come near, they attract each other. 


4: What do you conclude from this activity? 

Ans: Two like magnetic poles repel each other, while opposite poles attract each other.
