Q. "Write Short Answers"
Q(i). Define sense organ.
Ans: Our eyes, ears, skin, nose, and tongue are called sense organs. All the sense organs are linked together by the brain by the nerve.

Q(ii). What are the main parts of our eye?
Ans: Main parts of our eye are the cornea, iris, pupil, lens, retina, and optic nerve.
Ans: Main parts of our eye are the cornea, iris, pupil, lens, retina, and optic nerve.
Q(iii). Define cornea.
Q(iv). What is Iris and Pupil?
Ans: Beneath the cornea, the coloured portion of the eye is called Iris. There is a hole in the middle of the iris, known as the pupil. The pupil contracts in bright daylight and expands in dim light.
Q(v). Define Retina.
Ans: The light-sensitive portion of the eyeball is called the retina. Eye lenses form the image on the retina.
Q(vi). What is the optic nerve?
Ans: When light hits the retina, its cells make nerve signals. These signals pass along the optic nerve to the brain.
Q(vii). Draw a flow diagram of the functioning of an eye?
Ans: Light rays ⟶ Cornea ⟶ Pupil
⟶ Lens ⟶ Retina ⟶ Brain
Q(viii). What is the main part of our ear?
Ans: Human ear consists of three parts.
1. Outer ear
2. Middle ear
3. Inner ear.
Q(ix). Define pinna and ear canal?
Ans: The outer ear consists of a pinna and a long narrow tube called the ear canal. The pinna collects sound waves from the air.
Q(x). What is eardrum?
Ans: The outer ear is connected to the middle ear by a thin membrane called the eardrum.
Q(xi). Give the three smallest bones of the middle ear?
Ans: Middle ear has the three smallest bones.
1. Hammer
2. Anvil
3. Stirrup
Q(xii). Define cochlea.
Ans: The inner ear is filled with a liquid. The part of the ear has a coiled structure called the cochlea.
Q(xiii). How cochlea send message to Brain?
Ans: The cochlea sends message to the brain through a special nerve called the auditory nerve.
Q(xiv). Give a flow chart of the functioning of the ear.
Ans: Sound waves ⟶ Pinna ⟶ Ear drum
⟶ Three bones ⟶ Cochlea ⟶ Brain
⟶ Auditory nerve
Q(xv). What are skin and its function?
Ans: Skin is the organ of touch. Skin covers every part of our body. It protects the inner parts of our body. The skin contains several kinds of cell that detect pain, pressure, touch, heat, and cold.
Q(xvi). Give types of skin.
Ans: Skin has two types.
1. Outer Layer: The outer layer has color pigment ad protects the skin from harmful rays of the sun.
2. Inner layer: The inner layer has blood vessels, nerves, sweat glands and roots of the hair.
Q(xvii). Define Nostrils.
Ans: Our nose is a hollow air passage. It has two openings called nostrils. On each side of the nose is an air chamber.
Q(xviii). How do nerve cells pass the message to the brain?
Ans: Nerve cells pass the message to the brain through the olfactory nerve. Our brain tells us whether the odor is pleasant or unpleasant.
Q(xix). Draw the structure of the plant cells.
Ans:
Q(xx). Define unicellular organisms and examples.
Ans: The living organism made up of only one cell is called a unicellular organism. Example: Amoeba, Paramecium.
Q(xxi). Define a multicellular organisms and give example.
Ans: The living organism made of more than one cell is called a multicellular organism. Example: Plants and animals.
Q(xxii). Define Tissue and give its types.
Ans: A group of cells performing some function is called tissue.
• Epidermal Tissue
• Xylem Tissue
• Mesophyll Tissue
• Phloem Tissue
Q(xxiii). Give the function of mesophyll tissue.
Ans: Mesophyll tissues present in leaves make food for the plant.
Q(xxiv). Give types of animal tissue.
Ans: There are three types of animal tissue.
• Muscle Tissue
• Bone Tissue
• Blood Tissue
Q(xxv). Give the function of blood Tissue.
Ans: Blood cells form blood tissue. This tissue carries material from one part of the body to other.
Q(xxvi). Define Organ.
Ans: Different tissues group to gather to form organs. Example: Heat, Lung, Eyes, Brain, etc.
Q(xxvii). Give the function of the heart.
Ans: The heart pumps the blood in blood vessels which carry it to all parts of the body.
Q(xxviii). Give organization of life.
Ans: Cells ⟶ Tissues ⟶ Organs
⟶ Organ System ⟶ Organism
Q(xxix). Give the function of the tongue.
Ans: Our tongue helps to detect the flavor of food. We can detect sweet, salty, sour, and bitter tastes with our tongues.
Q(xxx). Can our lens change its shape?
Ans: The lens in the air eye can change its shape to see near and far objects. It becomes thick to see near objects. It becomes thin to see far objects.
