A woodcutter and his axe
Once there lived a poor woodcutter in the forest. He used to earn his living by cutting wood. One day when was cutting wood on a riverside. Suddenly his axe slipped and fell into the water.
He began to weep. In the meanwhile, an angel appeared. The angel said, "Why are you weeping? He said my axe had fallen into the water. The angel dived into the water and brought out a golden axe. He refused to take it. The angel dived again and brought out a silver axe. He refused to take it. Now the angel dived again and brought out an iron axe. The woodcutter was very happy to see his own axe. He took it immediately. The angel was very happy to see his honesty. He gave him the other two axes as a reward.
Moral: Honesty is the best policy.
